We've been here for just over 3 years and made a lot of changes, as well as, a lot of new friends. Real Ale is a great love of ours. Since arriving in Tongham, we have had eight new hand pumps installed and now offer up to nine ales at any one time. We usually have a variety of ales of varying strengths. Please feel free to suggest new ales that you would like to see featured. We have served over 300 different ales since May 2007! You are welcome to ask for a taste of any that you unsure about. In September 2008 we had all our cask lines replaced, with cooling right up to the pumps via dedicated python. This keeps the real ale at cellar temperature right until it is poured. Westons Old Rosie scrumpy is available on hand pump.
Stella 5%, Becks Vier and Fosters are available on draught. Strongbow & Guinness are now on dedicated extra cold pumps. Our bottled lagers include Budvar and Corona (served with lime).
We have the daily newspapers available every day and hot drinks are available at any time during opening hours.
We have retained our four stars this year, in the Guildford Borough Council FOOD HYGIENE STAR AWARD SCHEME. Thus earning the rating of "Very Good". For more information about the scheme, visit: www.guildford.gov.uk/scoresonthedoors
Two years ago we were awarded CASK MARQUE . The ales were tested on two occasions and found to be perfect on both.
CAMRA launched the 2009 Good Beer Guide at our beer festival in September 2008. They announced that we had been successful in making it into the 2010 Guide.
The smoking shelter is now up, with lighting and heating.
Nobody under 18 is allowed on the premises without one, or both, of their parents. Parents must ensure that their children do not annoy other customers. A selection of toys and games are available behind the bar, for both children and adults. Some customers bring a small bag of toys, which the children only play with down here! CHILDREN UNDER 14, UNLESS AT A FUNCTION, MUST LEAVE THE PUB BY 9.30PM. IT IS ADULT TIME THEN!!
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead, attached to a human!
